Tenth Annual Edible Books Festival

Groton Public Library
Sunday, April 3rd ~ 1:30

The three Friends of Libraries in Groton will be hosting the Tenth Annual Edible Books Festival on Sunday, April 3rd at 1:30 p.m. at the Groton Public Library. What is an edible book, one might ask? It can look like a book, refer to a character or just have something to do with books but must be edible! Entrees must be submitted to one of the three Friends groups by Friday, March 21; forms are available at all three Libraries. You don't have to be a fabulous baker to come up with an entry; we have had entries over the years that feature bottle of soda and bunny-shaped peeps (Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss), a hard-boiled egg (Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand) or two pieces of toast (Toasts by Paul Dickson). Sometimes just browsing a book shelf at one of the Libraries is enough to get your imagination going or you can check out previous year's entries at the festival's website www.books2eat.com for ideas. You can enter as an individual, family or group. This is a great bonding idea for families or book groups!

The festival will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Groton Public Library, 52 Newtown Rd, Groton CT and all are invited to attend this free, family-oriented event. There will be a chance to guess at the titles of this year's creations as well as to purchase a raffle ticket for a Friends book bag full of goodies from each of the participating Libraries. Don't be late to arrive as, once the guessing is done and the titles revealed, we have a chance to eat the entries and they quickly disappear.  This event has been enjoyed and anticipated by many over the years and has proven to be a great fun-raiser for the three Friends of Libraries in Groton.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Bill Memorial Library (860-445-0392), the Friends of the Mystic & Noank Library (860-536-7721) and the Groton Public Library Circle of Friends (860-441-6750); complete information and rules can be found at the three participating Libraries or on the websites (www.billmemorial.org,www.mysticnoanklibrary.org, www.grotonpl.org)
